interco / super swamper there the big one anymore . very few others left out there .

the swaper market for 16.5 is decent thet have some less aggressive stuff offered .

Re: 16.5 x 9.75- who's makin' tires

short answer, STA and Interco.. mostly offroad application in those sizes..

carefully consult tire specs for rim widths, bias ply/radial, and tube/tubeless..

Firestone makes a Transforce series in 16.5 but not sure if available in those widths..

there are some extreme duty military surplus variety available as well..

this will get you started, good luck!

Re: 16.5 x 9.75- who's makin' tires

Thanks , I was just curious if I could use them if I wanted.... I knew Interco made that size at one time and their tires are very expensive.

Was wondering about a regular comparable competitive priced tire . Not a good selection at all

I got new 16x10"- 058 eagles and Toyo tires last year

Are the STA tires all non Radial , Bias Ply?

Looks like very expensive Interco is really the only option

.

Slim pickins in the 16.5s.

Just bit the bullet myself and got into the 16 x 10s as well. It was painful.

Sold the 16.5 x 9s with 35 x 12.5 BFG MTs to a guy who wanted the rims for the military surplus tires.

Re: 16.5 x 9.75- who's makin' tires

just a little food for thought..

you may find a 16.5 tire to your liking at lower cost than 16 due to lack of popularity..

since you have the wheels, no harm running a set of tires on them and discard it all when worn out..

poking around ebay, looks like some 16.5 less than half of similar 16 I was looking at recently..

yes, I believe STA are all bias and interco make both.. others you'll have to check..

but not all sizes available in both rim sizes so shop carefully..

good luck!

for instance, these 16" superlugs are 36" diam on 16x6.5 late model wheels..

not sure that profile available in 16.5 by STA but opposite may apply to other makes..

btw those are 33x12.5x15 TSLs on the blue one and they look puny by comparison

33x12.5 16.5 ... Interco/swamper/radial's yep expensive, but probably less than the crazy 24 inch tires people run on their 2 wheel drives. I don't have this truck anymore, but it rode nicely and wasn't overly noisy.

What brand/style 16 x10 rims did you get ?

Looks like the Eagle Alloy 058 are all gone, (dont make 'em anymore). . I should have bought 2 sets of 16 x 10"

Are those heavy steel rims?

For aluminum , all I can find is these, that are simular to Eagle alloy 058s.... Looks like the holes are larger on the American Racings

Funny you say that. I've had a few sets in the side yard for a bit now. Those 16x7 Ferds are the only ones that the dog pees on when we let him out. Morning and evening they get a coat.

I had the manager of my local Firestone store tell me there was never a 16 1/2 wheel, but they could but a 16" would stretch enough to fit it!!! I quickly left that store and will never return!!!

16" tire on 16.5 rim .

it also was not square on the rim one hell of a wobble . and not even close to seating the beads .

Site says ship weight is 40# ea. Didn't seem that heavy when I brought them to the shop and wasn't too worried about it in the first place. Tires are 50+ each and with a big block it's like my fat arse ordering a double double, animal style fries and then a diet Coke.

They balanced up real nice. 3-4 oz. ea. . Better than the 16 fives. Made in USA. 70-85 on the fwy isn't even a concern anymore.

I thought the super swampers are very soft and wear out fast on the pavement?

It wasn't a daily. I just used it as a truck, errands in to town blah blah. So I cant really tell you how quickly they wore. My guess is I only put a couple thousand mile on them before selling the truck to another board member. And he doesn't use it as a daily either.

Re: 16.5 x 9.75- who's makin' tires

most swapers wear the first 1/2 kind of fast . then the 2nd half takes a long time . lots of guys will re-grove them after they hit the 2nd half or half way threw the 2nd half and got a lot more life out of them .
