Black Steelies with dog dish caps

Aloha.
I bought a dark blue and white c20 on the mainland. It currently has late model Chevy wheels on it. I want to put steelies on it. I live I n Hawaii, there are not many junkyards to get parts so I have to order online. I found 16x8 steelies from Coker tire via summit where I can get them shipped to to the truck prior to getting on a boat to Hawaii for 636. My plan is to put original style c20 caps on but I can’t seem to find any pics of black steelies with dog dish hubcaps. The normal look is white since that’s what is original. That option is there once I get the truck here. My question is, has anyone seen the look I’m going for or have any pics of the setup—black steelies with og dog dish hubcaps? Thanks |

Here's mine before I powdercoated them white... tires aren't actually mounted, just set in front for a look. It's not terrible, but white is wayyy better, especially with your two tone paint job...

Deep dish black wheels with baby moons was a popular look in the '60s, other than mags. It's a bolder tougher look that sets the chrome cap off better while not adding white where there is no other white. Your truck has white on it, but the black isn't like adding another color. Back in the day for these trucks, if guys got wide wheels they were black. I never saw wide white wheels on trucks. Maybe a rare few, and most ran no hubcaps. That's what's cool about steel wheels... paint. You can change the look of your truck simply by painting wheels differently.
I only have the one C/20 picture (not mine), but have one of a K/10 (crappy wheels) I had and an '84 4wd with wide wheels and stock caps for that year. But they all should help to give an idea of the look |

My little '67 project will be getting black wheels I think. I've had it's wheels forever. They're Kelsey-Hayes 15 x 8s I had powder coated gloss red back in '05 and never used. I ended up selling the truck I did those for when I bought the frame I'm building the '67 on. I've shifted away from red accents on this one and black wheels will be the look I want. |

Thanks for all the replies. I think my choice will be well done. I’ll post some pics when it gets all sorted out but in the meantime if you have any pics, keep them coming.
