your garage

I only have a two car garage and we have 5 vehicles at the house. How much space do you all have to work on your projects.

swervin ervin 12-05-2003 03:12 PM

I have my own space. I built me one. I have a 24 x 30 shop. :)

Lets see, between Shelly and I we have 4 vehicles and a trailer...but only a two car garage...can you guess who gets the garage? :D She has said on more than one accasion, "your sh*t has sh*t!"...soo true! This pic was taken about a year ago...it is actually cleaner now. :)

I have a 42'x25' garage right in my back yard. I currently want to pour the floor (grandfather only put a strip of concrete in the middle) and close up the outside from the weather. Once I get it all poured, I technically could get 4 vehicles in there. Jeep, Vette, Jimmy and Su.

I have 5 cars, a scooter, and a 2 car garage. Only the Camaro and the scooter will fit in the garage. All work is done in the driveway. The neighbors are thrilled, I'm sure... :)

My family has 4 cars. A one car garage that was partially converted to my bedroom. So that's 3 cars in the driveway and one in the street. Oh yeah technically we have 5 cars, My '52 is parked at my dad's friend's house. Eventually my room in the garage is going to be torn down, to bring the '52 back and park her in the garage...

gldevall 12-05-2003 04:48 PM

Does a 2 car carport count? Just my truck and the wife's corolla.

Russell 12-05-2003 04:53 PM

I've got a 40 x 80 shop that has two campers, two boats, a flatbed with a water tank on it, various other crap, as well as a 03 2500 HD and a 92 1500. Then we have the mechanics shop where I do all my work, thats a 32 x 40 (I think) Thats where I park my truck, and my father parks his 99 Blazer, then we have the garage that is attached to the house with the 03 Tahoe and the 90s LaSabre. We are using all those vehicles other than the 03 2500 HD, my brother uses his buick every day, my father uses his blazer every day, and my mother uses her tahoe every single day. We use the 92 for hauling water, and I use my truck most days of the week.

I used to have a garage... :(

My house on a mountaintop in NC had what I called a "2-Suburban" garage 'cuz you could fit 2 of 'em plus all your lawn equipment in it. I had a deck on back and a front porch on my 1400 sq. ft. house, all on 1/3 acre.

I had a 1-car garage in IL that cleared my mirrors by just a few inches on either side. I again had a 1/3 acre, 2200 sq. ft. and 4 bedrooms, 1 in the full basement.

NOW, I have a 798 sq-ft. 2-bedroom rancher with an attached aluminum carport. I've built a shed and finally have the boat "indoors" in a Cover-It shelter. I miss having a garage in this weather, I really do. I am thinking about using a space heater and tarps to get some temporary warmth in the carport for working on things in the winter, though.

Although she's exposed, the Jeep does get pulled up close to the house/carport and has a car cover. It's all I can do these days. Things are so much more expensive here in MD. This house cost more than the last two I had. I guess I got spoiled living in the country...

Cooter_01 12-05-2003 05:27 PM

i hope to have a 80'x90' shop if things go as planed but now i have a 12'x14' or something like that shed that i can park 1 snowmobile in it , a snowbolower work bench and myself my dad and both my brothers and we are all fairly big guys

Built a 30X36 shop with 12ft. eaves and cathedral truss ceilings. Needs finishing (insulation and electric). Should be complete by next summer. I only keep the 86swb in there and a riding mower. I should lease the 2 other bays out.

Here's my garage/shop. It served as our house for two yrs, while we were building the house next to it. It's 24x32, but with two kids it gets small real quick :D

I have what was once a 2 car garage. Now its a utah shaped garage with a converted bathroom. My 78 stepside barely fits. You have to park inches from the cabinets and climb out the passengers side. Wishes i had a shop in my back yard(and a way of getting cars back there.) I have the silverado, the stepside, blazer extreme, monte carlo and a 20' ft travel trailor(the duck blind mallard what a p.o.s even when new). Only the 78 gets to stay in the garage. you have to take the truck out of the garage to breathe. At my house junk goes from the house to the garage to the barn, to the dump. Maybe we need to skip the garage step.:bowtie:

Prerunner1982 12-05-2003 07:02 PM

ripetide.. i am with you. i wish i had a garage.. right now the truck is in the apt parking lot. my car is at the inlaws since i cant work on anything at the apt. in-laws live on a dirt road in the country... so i spend alot of time rolling around in the dirt...

one day i will have me a big shop....

79BIG10 12-05-2003 07:39 PM

Same here with Jon and Riptide. NO garage here but was luck enough to get a 10x12 shed to my house for $200. Time to replace some of the floord and build up the rest up to be able to hold some real heavy goodies when I score some.

bagged81 12-05-2003 07:45 PM

Getting ready to dig the footers for a 30x50.
Its getting a two post lift in one bay and a aerial trolly system across the other 3 bays. :D
It should be nice.

1FaastC10 12-05-2003 07:51 PM

well... since you asked... there's a 20 x 20 attached 2 car garage that houses my mom's '03 Camry and my sister's '97 Lumina. my 91 and my dad's '99 Silverado sit outside. then my 82 is scattered in the back garage (24 x 24, divided in half, one half is storage, other half is MY space.) the 86 is parked in front of the back garage, my sister's dead '96 Grand Am is parked beside the house (dad SWEARS he's going to put another engine in it and sell it). and my 86 is living under a big shade tree behind my cousin's house.

old Rusty C10 12-05-2003 11:21 PM

i have a one car garage but its got so much crap in there i cant really get a car except a ricer in there. i keep the 76 in the patch of grass next to the driveway which holds one car and there are two spots outside the house eventually ill get a shed built in the back to take a lot of crap out of the garage so i can putt a truck in there but it wont be easy to work in that either

ChevyGuyBC 12-06-2003 03:30 AM

TIMSPEED 12-06-2003 06:50 AM

No garage yet, but I have about 30x30 worth of flat open space that I plan on putting a tuffshed on.

Grim Reaper 12-06-2003 06:20 PM

I have a two car garge that has a 2ft wide path to the back store room. It's out of hand. We are seriously concidering moving and the garage and parking situation is a big part of it.

I have 4 vehicles and some other toys.
1. 1970 LeMans Sport convertable.
2. 75 Jimmy trail truck on 35's and 7ft tall at the roll bar.
3. 88 454 3/4 burb
4. 89 Honda Accord.
5. 57 Vespa.
6. 22ft 1959 Airstream
7. 5x10 home built cargo.
8. 42 inch lawn tractor.

Lemans is in the garage and the rest is on the drive other then the cargo. It's tucked in becide the house.

The reason the garage is so packed in is we are restoring the Airstream. We had to replace the floor on it. The inside whole inside of the Airstream is in the garage and spilling over onto the covered back porch. Cabinets, bathroom, the whole damn thing) the Airstream is completly empty with a nice new floor. Once I can wrap that up I'll have the Lemans and a semi free bay I can nose in the other vehicles to work on them. Next project is to restore the LeMans.

We are loosly looking for a house in the area. It has to have side entry 2 car garage and flat off the end of the drive. When I have the cash I will then add 2 more bays one of wich tall enough to handle a 2 post. Car port on the side to put the Airstream under.

Now my bud has the awsome garage. 2 post inside and a second 2 post outside. A chain hoist on a track running the width of the shop. It's 30x45 I would guess. It has a second floor storage room where the compressor resides. There is a trap door where he can bring large items up into the loft for stoarge. www.paynejeep.com has some pictures where you can see his shop under the buld section. I'm the guy with the bandanna on my head. Nice picture of my butt in the air leaned into the jeep. Real flattering. You can also see my other buddies steel building behind his house. It's 20x40.

Palf70Step 12-06-2003 10:02 PM

Outside is it. The carport on the side of my shed is close as I get to cover for now. Some day I'll have a full shop/garage there
