High end restoration on a base model
Now this is something that is rarely seen, a super high end resto on a base model C 10 8ft fleetside. The right look and colors from every angle. Just goes to show you the beauty of the simple things in life. Not mine. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Chevro...QAAOSwbb5dp6ko

Thanks for sharing.
It's very nice to see a person exercise restraint and just restore a basic example of these trucks to it's original state. It's actually easier to turn one into a Cheyenne Suoer than do a correct original base trim model. We had a member from the tidewater region of Virginia who restored a '69 (IIRC) SWB Stepside as it was built, 505 paint, green interior, white caps & bumpers, 250-6, 3spd...with overdrive!. I could handle driving that! |

That is really nice. There are times that better is not, well, better. I like seeing examples of what you would have seen on the lot back in the day.

Re: High end restoration on a base model

Re: High end restoration on a base model
IMO that would be my preference to a chopped, lowered, shortened vehicle. So many of them end up that way it is to me kinda a shame.
To each his own, I would enjoy puttin round town in that one. |
Re: High end restoration on a base model
Still to fancy. It got sidemolding haha

Re: High end restoration on a base model
Even the low option trucks were/are glamorous.

Re: High end restoration on a base model
Thanks for sharing the photos. It's definitely the simplicity that's beautiful about these old trucks.

Re: High end restoration on a base model
In a world full of how to convert your LWB 69 C/20 into a 67 C/10 shorty with 5 bolt wheels that handle like a Corvette with A/C. I absolutely love this truck and the resto the guy did to it. To show future generations how trucks really were back then manual brakes, no tilt, no power steering, no a/c, 3 on the tree, painted bumpers and hubcaps now that's a truck. Makes a man really appreciate what even the w/t models have now. :chevy:

I love the resto they did.
JMHO But these trucks are like a woman, if she can't pull it off in a black sheath dress and pearls, you can't put enough lipstick on that pig to make me want to kiss it. |
Re: High end restoration on a base model
The best thing about these trucks is what they are, not what you do to change them. I like them all. I'll be building a hot li'l pick 'em up, the '67. That is a truck totally from parts. I take each truck as it comes. I have no paint to match, SPID to guide me to what is correct, so I have a chance to create as I please, so my correctness goes to using what was available in this era or the few years since (not many brand new trucks got modified back then) and doing what I recall being done in that time. It's about nostalgia. I keep stock trucks stock or only do what was typical in their time in the way of accessories. Those, too, are part of the historic element.
