So, I took out my 1970 evaporator and put in a 1987.

Just incase anyone else is thinking about it. Also have a sanden compressor and 14x27 Ebay condensor to put in.

Already spent some time spiffing up controls and making all the flaps work.

More to come as I get more done.

I will be doing the same thing when I get to that point in my ls swap. Is there an office in the new evaporator?

If you notice the crimp marks on the smaller tube of the evaporator, that's where the orifice goes.

I also bought an accumulator and a cycling switch for an 87.

I'm wondering myself.... why not just buy/get the 87 stuff? Clue us/me in on why?

1987 R10 parts-
Evap- 48.89
Accumulator- 17.82
Pressure switch- 8.83

Ebay generic-
Allan GroveA/C comp bracket- 98.50
Sanden scv508- 195.00
Universal 14x27 parallel cond- 49.99

Total. - 419.03

I have some partial hose kits lying around. So I will have a new r134a system with a fixed orifice and a cycling compressor.

Did this about 25 years ago on my 71. I put the orifice in the line right at the battery tray at the union so it's easy to get to for changing. The system works great. I originally used normal R-12 parts because at the time no kits where available.
Later I bought the Classic Air group kits to get better performance out of the AC.

Thanks,
yes it is very cool!

No matter if it's 95* outside my truck runs at 38* inside.

I sent them pictures of the truck after installing their kit and was sent a request to put my truck on their cataloge. As you can see I said yes!
