Replacing fuel tank in 72

Hello, my 72 has set in a barn for many years so it's got bad fuel in the tank. I recieved a replacement tank that is originally from a 71. It to is the behind the seat tank. My question is that my 72 tank has 2 lines on the sending unit and the replacement only has 1. Do I need to swap sending units or can I use just the 1 line on the replacement? It is probably a dumb question but it's my first rebuild project. Thanks guys appreciate the tips and advice.

The 72 had a vapor recovery system that the 71 didn't. Just use your original sending unit.

Can I swap stuff out on the sending units? Or is it possible? I ask since the fuel was bad ..

iirc the 72 vapor system had extra fittings on the top corners of the tank that extra hoses went to...i believe you can abandon the whole setup and use the earlier tank...you just need to use a vented gas cap

The extra line on the sending unit is for a return line from the fuel pump. You can cap it off if yours doesn't have it. It basically comes on A/C models.
