Re: Axle GM 12 Bolt Rear end ID help
Any clue what year??
|
Re: Axle GM 12 Bolt Rear end ID help
There should be numbers on the axle tube on pass side...but they'll only show month and day built...not yr
|
Re: Axle GM 12 Bolt Rear end ID help
Negative. Axles don’t show no numbers. They are wiped out. Need to figure out what year axle I have so I can spend some money

Re: Axle GM 12 Bolt Rear end ID help
After removing about an inch of grime. It says KDA 175 2
|
Re: Axle GM 12 Bolt Rear end ID help
first post has 12 65 = 12th month of 1965 mfd for the gear set .
|
Re: Axle GM 12 Bolt Rear end ID help
KD shows to be 2.73...but the 11-41 on r&p is 3.73
A should be assembly plant...but I'm not showing a A plant 175 is 175 day of yr is June 24 2 is 2nd shift |
Re: Axle GM 12 Bolt Rear end ID help
*correction - KDA w175 2 is in the pass side, top on axle tube
|

Found these 2 holes hiding under grime. Can’t be a good sign. Is this common? Probably rusted inside right?

Re: Axle GM 12 Bolt Rear end ID help
Its a plug weld. nothing to worry about....
|
Re: Axle GM 12 Bolt Rear end ID help
Agreed...its where the axle tube is welded to the differential housing
|
Re: Axle GM 12 Bolt Rear end ID help
The housing ratio Id doesn't match the r&p ratio..so I wouldnt go by that
The housing shows it used to be 2.73s The r&p is 3.73s |
Re: Axle GM 12 Bolt Rear end ID help
Yeah will most likely keep it 3.73s. It’s just gunna be a DD. Thanks a lot! Looking to order new brakes or upgrade to disk and all new r&p set. What years would be safe and any good companies to consider? CCP and Yukon are nice but a little expensive. But you get what you pay for

Re: Axle GM 12 Bolt Rear end ID help
I'd go Yukon gears...
