Wgat did you get done 1/5/2020 edition

very limited week for me.. all i had time to wrench on was some minor interior things like installing pull straps and window handles.. my major project this week was swapping out a catalytic converter on the dodge gasser i have which turned out to be an adventure in welding
This big deals this coming week or two are going to be involving alternate tinkerings too like a freeze out plug on a astro van and the 70 monte carlo i have
How about you all?

Windshield wipers blades. Then went to Lowe's and got 15 bales of pine straw for the dog pen.

I replaced the bulbs in my cluster with LED's. It's a 90 Suburban cluster with 56000 miles on the odometer. I can now see the instruments. Then went on a couple hour cruise on a sunny snow free Ct. winter day. Came back at night after dinner, what a difference.

I made a mess of my shop & started my Spring cleaning/organizing early.

After finishing the build of my dually & getting back to work on my 64, my 1200sqft shop has been equal parts storage & working space. And by storage, I mean automotive + household related storage. Automotive parts for multiple vehicles: parts for my 99 obs truck; parts for the dually; parts for a g-body Malibu; parts for the 64; parts for my 67 build; & some modified C10 chassis parts that I sell. Plus tool carts, spare trailer wheels & towing stuff, ladders, garment closets, etc, etc, etc... I've had limited room to work effectively because the real estate situation caused by the collective volume of the parts creates clutter.

So I made a plan to re-organize the shop & make better use of unoccupied space (overhead). I purchased some used pallet racking & created a mezzanine platform so parts & shelving can now be stored on decking that's 7' off the floor. Unfortunately, one has to make a mess to get things in place so make a mess I (we) did. My GF helped set-up the first/easier half of the racking w/me on Saturday after I got it home & my 'nephew' helped set-up the second/harder half yesterday. I had purchased the required decking materials Sunday morning so when he arrived around the lunch hour we were able to get after it. All the racks are now up, in-place, & the decking was cut, fit, & secured. I'll start today relocating the existing shelving that holds manuals, & build parts to the decked area which will open up room to allow the larger & heavier bulk items to be tucked underneath the decking.

My goal is to hit Feb 1, 2020 with open, working floor space.

Swapped in a rear view mirror out of an 02 tahoe. Built in temp and compass (really just wanted the temp). Only took three tries to get the new mirror button to hold (so far, so good).
