Hubcap help

I have a 72 c10 with stock rims and stock hubcaps. One particular rim keeps losing hubcaps, I really don’t think it’s the hubcaps, I think it’s the rim. And suggestions on what I can do to the rim to help them from falling off. I do normal city driving. 10-15 miles around town.

Thanks.

Re: Hubcap help

On mine I put a dob of clear RTV on the wheel nubs, and then put the hubcap on and left it overnight. I only had to do that once, and the hubcap stopped coming off even though I periodically remove the hubcap to do maintenance.

Are you needing help with dog dish hubcaps or full wheel covers ?

Re: Hubcap help

I guess the nubs can wear? I have one wheel that acts the same way. It's a Ford Accuride wheel. I lost one hubcap, a 76-91 type. The hubcap was pretty well worn... pretty funky. Being aluminum they get pretty funky on the edge. But all hubcaps make some "flex" sounds on that wheel.

Re: Hubcap help

My guess is the nub is worn slightly, I will probably try the RTV route. It’s frustrating because I’ve lost two hub caps now.
