72 292 Harmonic Balancer Advice

Try to buy a harmonic balancer for my 1972 292. I can find them for 73 and up. Does anybody know the difference? Thanks.

The proper 3-groove HB for the L-25 292 L6 is GM p/n:10141202.
No clue on current availability. You may have to file the contacts on your Flux Capacitor to find one.

This is where I bought a replacement for mine.
https://www.damperdoctor.com/ he is pretty quick to send it out and a really cool guy. I have my old one that I never sent back for my core deposit. I will post pics tonight.

The older one had wider belt grooves as they used the old wide belts. I fyou wated to change to the nerrow belts you would need different pulleys, water pump & therm. housing. & alt mounting bracket.

Why does the EBay compatability calculator say this part is not compatible with 68 Chevy C/10 w/292? Dumb calculator, I guess. Parts picture looks good. Fair price.

I could've killed my machinist when he tossed my OEM 3-groove pulley in the trash. He said it was junk. Maybe it was cracked. I wanted to send it in to the Damper Doctor. I wound up with a 2-groove HB, he said was made in Australia.

That is the one I found but it says it fits from 73 and up. It sure looks like mine. I'm going to the shop where I'm working on it today to measure the one on my engine. If it's different, I'll send mine to the Damper Doctor. I didn't want to do that because I'm using a friends shop and didn't want to tie up a bay for any extra time needed to ship mine to CA and back. Thanks for the help.

Some of these calculators are weird. I was trying to buy a LUK 11" clutch for my72 C20 pickup and the calculator said it would't fit but it will fit a 72 C20 Suburban. I don't know if something is different or not but that doesn't seem right.

Maybe it was programmed to know that all '72s have a 12'' clutch. IDK, really.
Everyone knows Suburbans are so much smaller. [!?]
