3/4 ton

Re: suggestions for converting to disc 87 4wd
Better check again. A 3/4 ton '87 suburban should already have front discs.

Ditto...in about 71 or so front drums went away

Re: suggestions for converting to disc 87 4wd
I would say if there are drums up front, the front axle got changed with a 1970 or older version axle. AS mentioned it would have had disk brakes from the factory

Re: suggestions for converting to disc 87 4wd
Easiest way is to swap the axle.
Very few kits out there, and Suburban 10 bolts or Dana 44's are cheap enough. |
Re: suggestions for converting to disc 87 4wd
This is a case of the blind leading the naked, son-in-law was sure they were drums but after I told him the experts had weighed in and made him go check, turns out they a disc indeed.
Thanks everyone for the help, now I get to go find out why the truck does not stop like it should. |
Re: suggestions for converting to disc 87 4wd
Ok that's settled...now what's the issue with the poor stopping..what exactly is it doing.. or not doing
