What rear end do I have?
My truck is a 70 C10 and I am current in a restoration. I am thinking about converting to.5 lug since I am having a hard time with wheel choices in 6 lug. I need to know what rear end I have so I know what axles to look for. The truck is a short bed 350 engine with 3 on the tree. Also the rear end is a 12 bolt and according to the SPID it has .373 gears.

I think you'll need your axle length, splines and for a truck 12 bolt. Others that have done the conversion will probably chime in soon.

Re: What rear end do I have?
1970 is a changeover year. MOST have the same length axles and housing as the 71-72 but not all. If you have the longer housing you can buy 71-72 axles.
Use the search button on the board as this subject has been covered extensively. You can buy conversion axles, but the wider 71-72 housing (or 70 converted if that’s what you have) is better for fitting wheels on a stepside since a zero offset wheel centers in the sell left to right. On a fleetside it might be beneficial to have the narrower housing for running big tires on a lowered rig. |
