installing front fender welting?

im ready to put the fenders together and im not sure where the welting runs on the front fenders. does it only go on the rear where the outer fender meets the cab? I cant find any clear pics. I feel like ive seen pics showing the welting running the length of the fronts but im not sure. pics and advice appreciated.

On mine I ran it from bottom of fender up to the firewall and stop. Here's a pic it's hard to see welting because it's the same color as fender...Jim

Another option for you to consider. On my 48, I used 3M stripe caulk. You can just apply it to the cab and once you tighten your fenders it squeezes down. It stays flexible too. I plan on using it on the 53 Suburban that I'm building now.

Thanks Jim. I had my 48 on the road 10+ yrs and it held up fine..I also liked how clean it looked.

Does anyone have experience with the 3M caulk?
Does it have a reveal and if so wouldnt it be tough to keep it uniform? Thin at bolt locations and thicker elsewhere?
I'd love a product that just took care of the rub and didn't show.

i have used 3m strip caulk on other things, patching firewall holes etc, and I can tell you, its like a caulking gun stripe of caulk that never dries. the only "reveal" will be where it squeezes out between the panels and you can use a paint stick to wipe the joint. it will reliably stop water from getting in the joint, and will reliably stop paint rubbing because it stays flexible.

Has anyone any experience with using it on Task Force rear fenders and side steps?

I gave my painter color-matched welt for my rear fenders and he put it between the side steps and fenders bottoms too. It looks stupid there and doesn't want to stay firmly in place. I understand why he did it. This Strip-Caulk seems like a fix for that.

This is how I ended up running it. I feel like this is correct.
