73-80 Headlight Bezel "Eyeliner"
 

Recently bought a '79 C-30 service truck. There's a whole mess of stuff that has to be done more important than this, but the question has been in my mind for a bit.

Would, or did, 75-80 trucks have the black painted headlight bezels like my green '73 below? The '79 has nothing as you can see, but there is reminisce of paint on the bezels (grey or back, tough to tell) if you look close...

Being the original nut that I am, I've been kinda curious about this. Some of the 75-80 truck pictures I find online have grey paint in place of the black, some just plain 'ol chrome with no paint. Almost all 73-74's have the black painted bezels though.

Planning to paint the '79 bezels black with the black outline stripe around the lights... can't get enough of the look and I think it really sharpens up the 73-80 grills.

My 74 had the black, yet faded, on them. I repainted them which was a challenge to get it to look decent. I like the black look vs the chrome or the gray.

The recessed area surrounding the headlights was painted a few different colors over the years. 73 - 74 were black. 75 - 76 were argent silver. And 77 - 78 were dark argent (metallic gray) and I think 79 (and 80 with round headlights) stayed dark argent too.

I'm not entirely sure about the little recessed outline groove. But I believe that was only painted black in the early years (like 73 - 74) and then left unpainted in the later years.
