Tire Suggestions
Good afternoon everyone
So I'm changing up my wheel and tire package this year and wanted to get some suggestions. I will be running 15x6 steelies in the front and 15x8 steelies in the rear with a baby moon cap. Last two seasons I ran 235/70/15 white walls, and was thinking about running a 235 or 225/70/15 up front and a 255/70/15 in the rear. Truck is a 1965 SWB, on air ride. Cupped lower arms, and notched in the rear. Nothing super fancy about it. My fear are the wider tires in the rear not fitting once aired out. Thoughts, suggestions? |
Re: Tire Suggestions
I run a 225/70 up front on a 15x6 wheel. The rear really relies on the backspacing/placement of the wheel-tire combo as the lip of where the wheel tub bolts to the inner bedside can rest on or catch the tire to the outside, and the bedwood catching the inner side of the tire as the rear comes down.

Re: Tire Suggestions
You're going to have to measure closely with the chassis at the lowest point in the suspension travel (depends on your rear centering device - a track bar or panhard bar can pull the rear pretty far over through its arc of travel). I had to measure with no tire and wheels mounted and ran my truck through it's full suspension travel, measuring at full height, drive height, and at its lowest to get my wheel backspace measurement that cleared everything, keeping in mind the section width of the tire size I wanted to run.
