60-63 & 64-66 Frames Interchangeable?
 

I recently came across a 65 GMC Big Back Window leaf spring truck that I brought. Recently a 62 shortbed trailing arm chassis went up for sell. When doing some research, I determined that the frames are different but could not find a definite on whether I can throw the shortbed frame under the 65 body.

The body mounts are different, the frame on 62 is X with torsion bars and wider, the 65 is ladder. All is possible but most look in different directions.

The '60-'62 frames are the same and the '63-'66 frames are the same. You can mount your '65 body onto the '62 frame but the front cab mounts are farther apart and the bed mounts are wider side to side on the '62 frame. What is your reason for wanting the '62 frame/running gear?

I was planning a swb conversion and figured that a chassis swap would be easier if there were the same.

Without wanting to offend anyone... I think the 64-66 frame/suspension setup is superior, and if you are going to go through the effort of a swap, you should hold out for the later frame. Speaking of that, you can use a 67 up frame, too, IIRC...

IMO it would be easier to shorten your long wheelbase frame than to change to the earlier frame. And I don't just say that because I don't care for the '60-'62 frames.
