*Headlamp Visors*
Just don't see a whole lot of AD's with these visors. What was the original entent for these back in the day. If you have these visors on your AD let's see a pic guys.

Re: *Headlamp Visors*
I could be wrong but I remember an old newsreel from the war years where the visors were an attempt to shield the lights from enemy planes. Never seemed too effective to me..
I never cared for the look. They seem to gravitate to the low rider crowd where anything chrome or polished is used. The visors look like a circumcision gone bad. |
Re: *Headlamp Visors*
You don't see them because they are primarily a lowrider Bomba thing now and unless you have the whole nine yards of correct lowrider bomb regalia they look out of place and stuck on as an afterthought.
I always equate things like that on cars or trucks to being Similar to those Harley baggers you see belonging to HOG members who buy every trinket in the Harley shop's trinket section in the name of customizing in that they have the visors over the lights, extra lights a full ring of lights around the luggage box and bags and gold plated emblems on the removable covers on the engine. The "it's all custom because I spent 500 bucks in the trinket aisle" thing Not quite as lame as the stick on chrome plastic port holes at Autozone and the flame decals that get put on backwards but a close second. Still I always subscribe to the concept that anything you put on your truck should blend in as a cohesive component of the total look and not draw attention to it's self before the eye takes in the complete truck as a unit. If the component makes the truck look like a background for said component it is wrong for that truck's build. |
Re: *Headlamp Visors*
If you like them put them on.

Re: *Headlamp Visors*
I love 'em. Nice touch of elegance.
Maybe they were intended to keep falling snow from accumulating on the headlights? |
Re: *Headlamp Visors*
They are fine if they fit in with the total build but far too many guys are clueless as to what a total build is and tend to use "what the cool guys have" in a mix match hodpodge rig rather than giving thought to "does this really fit in with the whole build".
The best looking builds are always those where everything on the build compliments the complete build and doesn't distract from it. |

If you don't get it you don't get it. There are well thought out well planned trucks and there are the "I bolt on every trinket I can find no matter if they fit in the build or not" brigade.
