tilt steering wheel

I have a '69 c-10. Thinking about putting a tilt wheel in it. Anyone out there have any recommendations on what might fix and of course the easiest. Thanks,,,,Bill here

I have an ididit from another project that I never finished. That will be going into my son's 69, but I am sure it aint gonna be easy LOL.

There is a member here who does van columns that will fit. He does great work, I am sure he will chime in. Or do a search of steering columns and you are bound to find his work. Good luck.

Talk to Randy500. He’s got a tilt column for sale right now, actually

I got my GM truck tilt column from Les "70Shortfleet". I've met him myself (just a few miles away) and he has a lot of good reviews.

There's a few of us rebuilding tilt columns. Randy, Les, me, and a couple others.

No matter who you pick, I'd go with a GM one over any re-pops. So far out of all the GM ones I've gone thru I've found very few bad parts. Mostly just parts needing cleaned up and re-greased or refinished.

The original truck tilts are a bolt in, the motor home and van tilts need the NSS moved down to fit. The van columns have a slightly longer steering shaft that requires some collapsing of the intermediate shaft to fit as well.

Truck tilts tend to be expensive since they're actually pretty rare. The motor home and van versions are cheaper and easier to find.

I've been very satisfied with the "shortened" restored tilt column that I purchased from board member "70shortfleet".

I agree with Clay. I originally purchased a CPP tilt column to save a couple of hundred bucks, but was not happy with its fit and finish. I sold it and got a GM truck column from Les...very happy with the GM/Chevy column.

Aftermarket is cheap and crappy. get a real chevy column. I got one from Randy

and could not be happier. It was perfect, and bolted right in.
Support the guys here on the forum, and don't guy a crappy column.
