67-72 GMC park light socket

I know there are threads on this already and they all say you can't get them. They are also old. I was wondering if just maby some one has started making them. Or at least knows how to disassemble them and put new innards in it. Mine has a broken tab on it and needs replaced

Gess I'll just put a 71 72 chevy bumper on it. Get rid of my grill lights. Even though I had rob make me some led boards for them.

I need to do this as well. I'm planning on taking mine to the old guy at my local NAPA and having him help me source a new socket. They usually come through for me

Also, I'm not sure of what you're looking for, but you can probably source something that doesn't look stock. If you want stock, hit the parts board!

The park/ blinker light socket for the grill. Mine had a broken off contact and is rusty. The think with going with an another one like from the junkyard or what have you it will probably look about the same. I have a lead on a 72 chevy frount bumper with lights and brackets. If I can get them off there mine.

Re: 67-72 GMC park light socket

I have two GMCs and look at plenty others. Mine look good as new and so do most I see. It is more rare to have one that crusty. It must not have been fully pushed together to seal it and for a long time. I'm sure you can find one, before long, on the parts board. if you just want a '72 Chevy bumper that's one thing. But I can't see doing all that when all you need is a socket in the fixture. Surely you could rig something up, even if you never find an OEM piece

Your 100% right. But I dont what this to happen again if the other side brakes or what ever if I just switch to the chevy bumper I can get unlimited replacements. We GMC guys have it hard when it comes to the aftermarket.

I'm not sure if this is the one you're looking for, but I just ordered 2 of these for my '69 GMC.

My C-30 [71] needed a pair of lights for my bumper. Being the resourceful guy I am [read broke] and that i have built and junked TONS of88=07 trucks I replaced the end from the old truck with three wire pigtails from a newer type. Now my one ton takes the newer 3157 light bulb. I did have to drill a hole in my lamp housings to ground the third wire. I also opened the hole for the light bulb but no big. Works awesome. Jim

From what I can see in the photo it looks similar to the brake light sockets on my GTO. Even if the plastic housings are different I'm fairly certain you can remove the contacts and swap them. I've done it on mine.

I just got them yesterday and they fit perfect. I am hoping I can get to wiring them in today and will let you know, but I don't see an issue with that.

wiring should be fairly straight forward. I'll have to order some.

Good to know, if these work out well. If so, start a thread to share the info on them for all the other GMC owners

I found a set of parklight bulbs sockets yesterday at the junkyard . Now I have all working lights again.

I wired the ones I bought the other day and they are perfect. They have the notch and fit like factory. Only difference is the wire colors.

Hi, Saw your solution and glad it worked... But I was thinking shouldn't you have a 3-wire socket (what they call a combination socket) so that the turn signals will work as well as just the static park light..? or did you figure out a way to wire it up to work that way..

I don't think you need 3 lines. One for Parking filament and one for Turn Signal/Hazard Flashers. The lamp base is the Ground side. The stock light buckets only have 2 leads.
