66 low buck simple exhaust.

I have 2 inch stock center dump ramshorn's.
I also have some 2.5 center dump ramhorns.
I'd like to run a single exhaust to the back.
I have a 350 gm Goodwrench.
Keeping things simple.
I'm getting old and want things quiet.
What should I run? 2 or 2.5 inch ramshorn?
What muffler, and what size pipe?

I'm running stock ramhorns with a 283 and dual exhaust. I would have to measure but I think my pipes are 1 7/8 but I could be wrong. It's not super loud but does have thrush glasspacks which I'm assuming you won't want to run so your exhaust would be a lot more quiet.

Thanks,
Actually, after doing more research, I'll probably just do dual.
Still would like to find the quietest muffler I can find.

I too like a quiet ride... and for me, mufflers alone weren't enough. Soooo I added a pair of these gems as a complimet to the mufflers. https://www.amazon.com/Vibrant-1141-.../dp/B000E3VHWI Really helped and they come in different inlet/outlet diameters. EDIT: The mufflers I used were Dynomax turbos with the 20" case which have a reputation as a quiet performance muffler, but just using them alone didn't get me to where I wanted it.

Lots of good reviews.
Thanks

For a stock 350, the 2.5" manifolds probably aren't worth much (if any) extra power, and they bring a fair amount of money on the open market. In your shoes I might use the 2.0" manifolds and sell the 2.5" manifolds.

Your welcome, as to the question of pipe diameter, mine has 2" ramhorns and 2" head pipes that the muffler guy made. Then when it goes to the resonators (under the cab) I had to jump to 2 and a quarter because that's as small as the mufflers come. So I stayed at 2 and a quarter going thru the mufflers (under the bed) and out the back. I used a Summit DIY kit to put it all together using my cheapo welder and clamps It was a bear to do but fun at the same time. I had to keep hauling the tailpipes out to the yard and filling them with water from the hose to find all the leaks in my welds :)

How do those glass packs sound? I got a 283 and will be getting to the muffler once i get the bed on. I’m not looking for a loud exhaust but just a little raspy. I’m not sure if you can record ho it sounds and post to send to me. Thanks

I have 2.25" pipe from manifold to 40" long Blue Streak glasspacks, then 2.5." pipe out to rear bumper and it is nice and quiet. Can hardly hear it at idle, a little louder under load and cruising speed barely hear it and has no interior noise.

"Quiet" has a lot to do with factors other than muffler type. placement is a big one. I'm running 2 inch dual exhaust and thrush glass packs off of stock rams horns. Inside the cab, you'd never know it. The glass packs are under the bed and not under the cab. I insulated my floor with butyl rubber, and placed an additional layer of rubber under the seat. Then ran carpet with a mat attached to the back. If I want to hear my exhaust, I have to work at it. Downshift into third while passing under a bridge. It's unbelievably quiet for a straight through pipe.
