LS3 CAM in 5.3

Anyone run an OEM LS3 cam in their 5.3? My buddy bought a crate ls3 swapped cams for a bigger one and said I could have the stocker for cheap, along with the stock ls3 exhaust manifolds. Do any of you guys run one?

I'm sure the cam will work...with a tune...need a spring change as well
But I'd for sure grab those manifolds...hard to come by and not cheap either..
Theres a bunch written on the cam swap

Also check out the Richard Holdener videos on YouTube. He does a dyno test of that combo

Re: LS3 CAM in 5.3

I have a LS7 cam swapped into my 5.3 engine in a dd.
it kills the low end noticable amount, but gains a lot of RPM potential and HP up top. All in what you want I guess...
reading those articles about the swap, they focus on the peak HP gains and don't really tell how loosing 70lb-ft down low at 2500rpm feels seat of the pants. It doesn't bother me enough to re-swap the cam LOL

my summary is the engine will feel noticeable softer in the rpm range most driving takes place, but above 4k feels noticably stronger and will pull to nearly 6500 cleanly before falling off.
the OEM 5.3 cam was done and nosed over at 5400-5500
