Try filing for a lost title. In some states, if the vehicle hasn't been registered for X amount of years, you can file for a lost or stolen title. That might be your best shot....

i was reading in one of the auto trader books or one of those kind they have companies that specialize in acquiring titles for vehicles with no title. I have no clue how much they charge or anything but its worth a shot maybe hemmings has their ads too? also search online

I just went thru the same thing in MN. I came from NH with my 74. No title in NH was required. In fact if the Vehicle is over 15 years old NH will take your title and destroy it. they say the Registration is all the proof you need of ownership. So What I had to do is have NH DOT write a letter to MN DOT saying they will not issue a title and the truck is infact mine.

took about 6 week from start to finish.

Not sure if this helps but there it is. and I have a clean MN title~!

I had one like that before,

not sure how a lost or stolen title would work, seems like it would remain in orig owner name, dont know for sure ???

I got a title clearance from the other state dmv cost 5 bucks, then I filed a mechanic lein, cost 30 bucks to file, the inspector came out in two weeks (took about 30 days total) and another 65 for the new title.

Look into that also. also check both states for the easiest mechanic lein,

I remember Nv was a beoitch of a proccess,

but Az was easy as pie, so I went that route !!

good luck
