New Speedometer Cable Help
Hello,
I need help to purchase a new speedometer cable for a 71 C10 with a TH350 transmission, but I don't have the old one for comparison and I'm not sure which is the right one to get. Any suggestions (model numbers, links, etc) are appreciated. Thanks! |
Re: New Speedometer Cable Help
GMCPauls only carries one size for our year of trucks, it's 70 inches long. LMC carries several lengths. The trick is how you are going to route it to determine length. A coat hanger (or two) comes to mind to help layout the path and estimate the needed length.
No tight bends and stay as far away from the exhaust as possible. I'm betting the one from GMCPauls will will be fine, but check your truck first to make sure. https://gmcpauls.com/instrument_panel.htm https://www.lmctruck.com/1967-72-che...dometer-cables I can vouch for GMC Pauls parts and service...I have not dealt with LMC at all. |

Do your due diligence, but I think you will find that the ends do not change for our trucks.

Re: New Speedometer Cable Help
Just as an FYI for folks. The 70 incher was a little tight on our 69 K10 that we just finished. Of course you've got the transfer case added on there, but also the original Stewart Warner adapter made things very tight. We got it together, but it was under some strain. So we had one custom made. Very quick, high quality and reasonable price...here's the link in case anyone needs it...they're in Denver:

I just sold an original out of a 71 K10. The length was 74/75 inches in length.

Re: New Speedometer Cable Help
Sorry for jumping in on your thread, but being on this topic is so close to what I been wondering. I know there's different length speedometers cables and I now read all ends are the same, just need to ask, are the ends the same for automatic and manual for the cable to hook up ?, That is, I removed my manual 3 speed and replaced for a auto 350 trans and wondering if the cable ends are still the same on the tran side.
Thanks NGN Nick |

Re: New Speedometer Cable Help
Corrected my above post to read correctly Stewart Warner instead of Borg Warner. Here are some links that may be of help getting things to read correctly:
