What do you like about your truck the most?

What do you guys like about your truck the most?

For me, it would be a toss up of the looks of the body style, the roar of my high compression 350 exiting through dual flowmasters, or the fact that it is all mine :bowtie:

dinnut 12-12-2003 01:43 AM

for me, not having to pay a car payment is VERY VERY GOOD. plus the truck is awesome...

dtlilly 12-12-2003 01:56 AM

71 GMC: being able to go anywhere w/o getting stuck
72 Chevy: being able to haul anything

It dosen't b!tch at me when I leave the toilet paper over instead of under....:D:D

krazy_texan 12-12-2003 02:02 AM

the fact that i put it together, multiple times and that it is my truck and it is different from what you see most kids my age driving. come down to it, it is all a bit of self pride, honestly how many 19 year olds can look at their vehicle and say that they do all the work to it, that they have built it, and that they payed for it all out of thier own pocket.

bow-tie-bandit 12-12-2003 02:11 AM

The thing I like about my truck the most is having a site like this that has other people who share the same interest in the 67-72 body styles. :D :bowtie: :D

Since I was in high school, there were only a few 67-72's around. For whatever reason that body style, whether it was 2X4, 4x4, LWB or SWB just got my attention...they just look great. And of course there was a guy around the corner from me who had a showroom 72 shortbed fleetside with a stout motor...it was beautiful....so of course it made an impression in high school.

There really were only two vehicle types in my High School years (and beyond ) that I reall liked....the 67-72's and 66-67 Chevelles.

I have had 4 67-72's....a 67 GMS short fleet with a 383, a 72 3/4 ton LWB BB with a 396, a 72 GMC Sierra Grande 3/4 ton BB in great condition...all of these were sold......

Probably the best part about my truck now is the theme...close to original until the light turns green.

Hooter 12-12-2003 03:23 AM

1. its fast
2.it's different
3. no one else has the same one
4. I am not trying to emulate something off a fast and furious movie
5 And I look damn good behind the wheel :D

Pont 12-12-2003 03:45 AM

What I like the most is that it's an original. There is no mistake whether or not it's me when I'm coming down the road!

D-Money 12-12-2003 04:13 AM

I have yet to see a truck that looks exactly like mine. It is so simple and yet such a great product of GM. Today all the trucks look the same

SWEET7T 12-12-2003 05:00 AM

Cuz the chicks dig it
Not as common like something new.
The fact that I tore it apart and put it back together.
I've always loved older vehicles.
It's easy to work on.
We have cool forums like this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1969 GMC 12-12-2003 05:04 AM

-i have always liked the 67-72 body lines better than just about all the other pickups GM ever made, especially the GMC version :D
-i like having the carrying capacity of a 3/4 ton, and the traction of 4wd, and the look of the 4wd
-i like how our trucks blend (surprisingly well) old school & more modern elements, like a wood bed floor, and a/c
-reliable, if not more so than any other vehicle I've owned
-I too like being 19 years old and driving something around that is different, and cool...and yellow :D...and something I can work on myself at home with basic tools.

Longhorn Man 12-12-2003 05:57 AM

I've always liked the way they look,
I love the way that soooo many ppl can relate with them, either with a simple "nice truck" or with a story that revolves around some one owning a truck like that..."
But I think the thing I like the best about mine...is that it is more reliable than gravity.

SEVEND2 12-12-2003 06:01 AM

For me, it would be the looks of the body style, and the roar of my 350 exiting through dual exhaust, no payments, Wood Bed, Coil suspention all around , huge Glove box.. Whats there not to like

Southpa 12-12-2003 06:23 AM

it runs

gonebad2 12-12-2003 06:32 AM

Besides being the best truck GM ever made.....No METRIC nuts and bolts.

JayDubBlazer 12-12-2003 06:36 AM

Because

Lippyp 12-12-2003 06:45 AM

I like mine because it's loud, yellow, fast even with a load of junk in the back and theres probably less than 25 of them in the whole country! (loads of older trucks and loads of newer trucks but there seems to be very few 67-72's) You guys help just a little bit too LOL

JIMs70GMC 12-12-2003 07:57 AM

When I was growing up my dad had a 67 w/ side pipes (I know JC whitney exhaust) it was just so cool when he'd get home from work and pull into the drive, everybody would turn their head. Ever since then I've wanted one, so when the oppourtunity presented it self my wife said buy it!
Just gotta love the body lines!

Palf70Step 12-12-2003 09:32 AM

Looks good (or will when it's back together). Mostly what everyone else has said about them holds true with me also.

mrein3 12-12-2003 09:50 AM

Its paid for.
Its been paid for since I bought it in 1994.
If I bang something into it, scratch the crap out of it partridge hunting down some crappy logging road, or if it gets nailed at the boat ramp by some idiot on his first trip to the boat landing, it doesn't matter - its just an old truck - it can be easily repaired.
Even when not in show room condition the lines still make it look good.

Paul72 12-12-2003 10:36 AM

What Longhorn said - so many people can relate to either owning one in the past, or knowing someone who had one. I've talked to many people who come up and say 'nice truck', especially when the top is off the Blazer.

Mine is nowhere near show condition, but I (and many other people) can see and appreciate the beauty of these trucks.

Second to that would be this board and all the fellow 67-72 owners out there. I pass another truck on the road and we give each other the nod or the 'thumbs up'. It's like having an extended family where ever you go. The nicest people own the 67-72's!!:D
