Opinion on stripe placement

5 Attachment(s)
I am painting stripes on my sons blazer to break up the two tone. I want them to mimic the original style black and anodized aluminum trim. But I dont want them to look like poorly done imitations. I have the verticle spacing of the stripes lined out, but I am torn as to where to stop and start them front to back. I painted the first layer today and I'm just not sure. At the fenderwells I ended the stripe right at the dimple at the fender lip. At the doors and fenders I wrapped them around. I think I need one or the other.

Let me know what you think
Thanks
Lynn

Re: Opinion on stripe placement

The perspective of your pictures is making it impossible for us to judge. Step back from the truck 10 or 20 feet to give us better idea. And if possible avoid the black out perimeter on the photos. We need to see them as we would in real life from 20 or 30 feet away with the rest of the world to put them in perspective.
Another thought is the factory trim adds shadows to the side of the truck. So possibly this lack of shadows is what is causing your concerns. They will always be a 2D representation of a 3D item.

HO is right on the money with the photo suggestions and the shadowing. If you are trying to mimic the originals, then start and stop the stripes where the General did. Otherwise, it's your desires that count...a full wrap around of the stripes would be pretty unique and get alot of second glances.
