Door VIN Plate

On the Door vin plate, there are two letters on the lower left "DD: In this case, and a series of numbers to the right.
Looks like a DD 9 927 66
What are these codes for?

The Vin # I have figured out, its what's below the VIN# that stumps me..

Sorry, I didn't see the picture before. No clue what that is there for. I'm interested to find out though.

Re: Door VIN Plate

From a bit of looking on other sites suggest it was for dealers to stamp delivery date for warranty and chevy started this 63 ish problem was touchy the spot weld vin tag it would fall off
The dealers that did try stamp date stopped as re attaching vin plates to not look altered was tough
And chevy carried this through on vin plates after they started riveting them

Ok, so you are talking about the one and only VIN plate on the jamb. When you said door, I was confused. Your photo looks nothing like my '71, so I guess the design changed over the years...will have to look that up in the parts vendor catalogs.

Not sure but my 69 C10 has the same DD code in the same location. I can't see any other markings next to it like yours has though.

I haven't seen any reference to it anywhere. It is definitely not a paint code as my truck was a custom paint code on the SPID.

Re: Door VIN Plate

That DD is definitely factory. No dealer could stamp that perfectly. Once Vin plates were installed they were never made to come off by federal law.

Re: Door VIN Plate

That is interesting. Mine also has the DD without any dealer stamps after it. Here is another article that supports the idea of DD = delivery date
