Spare tire hanger
1 Attachment(s)
I am thinking of adding a modern day spare tire hoist in my 79. Looks like it would go pretty easy. Could need to bolt it in on one of the main bed supports. And drill a good 1/2” hole through the support to get the crank in there. I would remove the license plate and put another hole behind it as well. What do you guys think? Check it out.

Re: Spare tire hanger
I got a set up out of a Nissan truck but never got around to putting it in. The hoist would work great but I may need a hole in the lower bed rail at the very rear to put the jack crank rod through. Please post more pics of your install so I can get some motivation to put in!! Right now I don't even have a spare installed as the exhaust hits the tire. UGH!
What did your hoist set up come out of? |
Re: Spare tire hanger

Re: Spare tire hanger
I have one from an 88-98 model I plan on using. I just have not gotten around to it yet. If it works Like I think it will, the hole for mine will be just off to the passneger side of the license plate. Let us know what you find out with your install.

Re: Spare tire hanger
The best place to hang the tire is close to the bumper. I think the tire hanging down this far looks like crap.
