antenna question
starting on my interior. I have no holes in my fenders for a antenna. I have this nub sticking out between the speaker opening (no dash pad installed) and the windshield that is connected to a antenna wire that drops down to the radio. Is this the factory in glass antenna or some aftermarket add on. I can get a pic if needed. Thanks
also did all trucks come with headliners??? Mine is a 1978 Silverado |
Re: antenna question
The antenna is factory, it does attach to the windshield. Some trucks came with & without headliners. If you want add a headliner, it’s fairly easy, just need all the headliner trim.

it should look like the male side of a button on the windshield...there is a short connector that snaps onto it and plugs in under the dash pad..

Re: antenna question
ok it does look like the male side of your button. But my windshield has no antenna built in it??? I bought this truck in pieces so I don't know what windshield they gave me.
I think I got a stack of trim with the truck parts. |
Re: antenna question
Summitracing.com has a antenna that lays on the dash and is quite small. If that appeals to you more

Re: antenna question
if the windshield has that button on it there should be wire in the glass...very small wire...goes up the center from that button and across the top towards each door

I went out and took a couple of pics, of the antenna that’s mounted at the bottom of the glass, and the wire in the glass. Hope this helps.

Re: antenna question
just checked my glass I do have the antenna in the glass. Now let me try to find the end that it plugs into in the stack of parts left. Thanks everyone I assume I can buy this end if I need to somewhere.
