transmission output flange nut / socket ?

so i need to change the seal on the back of my spicer 5 speed in my 88 gmc 7000 truck . i have measured up the nut and cant find a socket the correct outside size to NOT bind up inside the flange body area .

anyone have any helpful hints other than the old hammer & chisel method i prefer NOT to do .

looks like a 2" or 2 1/16" maybe ? across the flat's .

Re: transmission output flange nut / socket ?

I once had to do a similar job. Only could find a 3/4" drive socket to fit the 1 3/4" nut but the OD was slightly too big to fit down in that pocket. I had to buy a new socket and then grind down the OD just enough to fit without making it too thin so the wall would crack. Fortunately it worked. In 30 years I have never used that socket for anything else.
