Frame sections
 

I have 1968 Chevy C10 long bed, 2wd coil spring, frame rails in my back yard and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what sections I should save and how should I cut them out(Length, Tools). It does have a rust hole by the driveshaft hanger cross member and the passenger side front rail is bent a little from a crash it took part in. Besides that the rest of the rails are in good condition, just need to be sand blasted and painted.

Why would you want to cut it up?? Sand blast and paint the frame, preserving it intact..

It has a couple of bad spots for a lack of words. The one rail could probably be left as a whole, the front would just have to be bent back straight. I also took it apart already. Keeping the good and junking the bad.

I'm all about preserving things, but if the front is bent and there are rusted through places I'm afraid there isn't much value other than scrap at this point. Good frames are not that hard to find.

I agree with finding a new frame. My frame was bent and the local body shop wouldn't touch it. I bought a donor truck for the frame and sold the bed for the cost of the donor truck and the rented trailer. The bonus is I still have the fenders, hood and vent cowl that I can sell off to pay for more goodies.

Farthest back rear x-member, the one that is angled. Same with the front by the core support. Some how they seem to always be bent from someone wrapping a chain around them. Bed mounts, cab mounts. Linkage pivots, spring hangers all have value

Yes that i agree save front and back cross member i changed the front one out on my 68 from the po wraping a chain to it

Yep got all of those parts from it. Or at least most of them. The cross members that you said get usually get bent don't look it thankfully.

This frame was a donor frame. It was free and had good parts, couldn't go wrong.
