Let’s see some 55-59 4x4s
1 Attachment(s)
As the title states, I did some searching and didn’t see any threads in the 4x4 section for the Taskforce trucks in 4 wheel drive. Napco, Marmon-Harrington, factory frame, frame swap etc. all welcome. If it’s a 55-59 Chevy or GMC: pickup, medium duty, panel, suburban... it don’t matter, It’s welcome here.
Here’s mine. I’ve owned it since 2005. Currently it’s awaiting a motor/drivetrain swap... 350/th400/np205, with an 8 lug front 44/disk brake 14bolt. I put it on a 88 blazer frame with a 4” lift and 35/12.5’s back in 2006/2007. |

08-17-20 In progress with 59 GMC frame. It will(is) be a 250 six with a 350 turbo and np208 transfer case and has a 12 bolt in rear and a gm 10 bolt in front - 3.73.
10-15-20 Now has a 350th with NP208. Rear driveshaft only at this time. I am awaiting a transfer case shifter from a Ford 250. Will have to ponder mounting it. 12/20 --- It is now a real 4x4 as I have placed the front driveshaft and has a transfer case shifter. 07/06/21 ----- Some headway on 59 along side 67 |

Retired pipeline welder from LA near the TX border did this '57 NAPCO. was 283, now has a 327 with headers and finned aluminum valve covers and matching air cleaner. He brought it a few weeks ago to an antique truck show in Clear Brook, VA. Did he do it just right, or what?

Re: Let’s see some 55-59 4x4s
He absolutely did it right Tim, all the way down to the antique Lincoln.

Love it! Brewster green was the original color of mine. I found it in a few places when I tore it down. Very nice truck!

Here's my 58. It identifies a napco....I narrowed a big hub 44 4" and used a divorce mount np201. I have a few sets of 19.5's and lucked out finding 5 NOS tires for them. Got the truck 8 hours away in spokane from the original owner after sitting since 82. My kid and I got it running after freeing up all the stuck intake valves and bent pushrods and drove it to a buddies near Bonners ferry 120 miles away.

Nice work, I love the look of that ole girl. Not often you can find a taskforce from its original owner. That’s an excellent score!
Here’s a few of mine as she sits neglected for now. I’ve got an 89 square body K30 frame I’m going to swap the body onto to replace the blazer frame it’s on now, along with a bare L29 454 block I’m going to build up, SM465/round 205 from the same ‘89 K30 that will be going into the next chapter of the build. She’s a little sad these days but will rise again soon as I’ve got time and the extra cash to do it. |
