Help Identifying a Seat
 

Was headed down a local street near my house. And saw this seat with a sign that said “Free..1967-1972 Chevy Truck Front Seat” of course I tossed it in the bed of my truck without hesitating, because I know the owner of the house it was in front of owns a 72 GMC Jimmy.

After looking at it, the brackets are odd and the width of the seat almost seems like a rear seat to a Blazer but not really sure can’t find any brackets online that seem to match. Perhaps the rear to a square body K5?? It’s 40 something inches wide I forget the exact measurement.

Any ideas??

That may be a "base model" seat that the lean back didn't tilt forward on.

I'm thinking that part of the base/ track is missing from it.

The whole batch of photos are worth looking at to see how 57/72 Seats go together.

Great group of photos. Of course the guy in the photo is holding his hand right over where I would want to see. Haha

Definitely something odd about this seat. It is really narrow to be a front seat I think. Some of the earlier trucks 55-56 had brackets like this from what I can see online. But slightly different still, and I looked at my wife’s 56 Pickup and the bracket looks nothing like the ones I even see online so I’m sure someone swapped seats in that at some point too. The current bracket seems low which was leading me to a rear seat because that would be mounted to a floor without any type of rise to it.

You never know what someone stuck in one of these trucks in the past.

The front pieces kind of look like some van seat bases that hook into recesses in the floor but those usually have a kind of a quick release at the back so you can pull them out and not have to unbolt them.

It looks like someone recovered the seat at one time so that throws you off too.

If the seat has adjustment it is probably not a rear seat.

That’s a good point. I need to confirm that they are sliders. Of course I took the picture at a poor angle.

My guess would be a 70's or later C40 or bigger truck. I know they used the 71-72 seats for along time after 1973. The front hooks would save on assembly line labor with only the back bolts needing to be installed.
You might throw a thread up in the Heavy Haulers section to see if anyone there recognizes it.
