New headlights not working

1 Attachment(s)
Ordered a set of new led headlights from eBay but I can't get them to work properly, I ran a hot wire from the extra red wire to the + on the battery still nothing. I was told to do this by a local shade tree mechanic I don't know much about wiring.

As always all advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

LEDs are polarity specific...ground has to be ground, and hot has to be hot...cant tell much from your pic.

Even if the old incandescent bulbs worked fine, if you are reusing the original headlight plugs, possible that corrosion is preventing a good connection. It doesn't take much size difference to cause problems between old sockets and new inserts.

You may need relays to get the bulbs to have sufficent voltage.

You'll probably need to repin your connector. LEDs often are wired to H4 pattern, just gotta swap two wires around in the connector.

I just wanted a nice set of headlights, I don't think $109 is all that cheap for headlights. Not sure what you paid for your set but I'm sort of on a budget. Thanks.

I wouldn't say its always cheap lights either, lazy/minimizing minor stock changes for what is essentially an unnecessary part number since h4 & 45xx use the same connector, on the lazy side, they should be throwing in a sheet with the above that says if you are using them in a 45xx system repinning will be necessary (h4 being by far the most common, especially from an asian/euro perspective).
