Re: Legal vin tag swap question
That's a very touchy question. Let me try to avoid getting in trouble.....
It is illegal to affix, alter or modify a vin tag in most cases. Discussing anything to do with that is forbidden on this and most forums and threads get locked. A better route would be to contact your states vehicle registration authority to find out what you can do legally. |

Understandable, I'll take the thread down. Thank you for your help!

Re: Legal vin tag swap question
The short answer is no. There is no circumstance in which that is a legal procedure in any state, and will land you with a felony. Best idea would be to swap cabs and the small price of registration and insurance will be far better than jail time for VIN fraud.

Re: Legal vin tag swap question
I didn't see the original post but you or your shop are allowed to remove and replace the vin tag if needed, by federal law....State laws may differ.
I'm by no means a lawyer, this is just an FYI. I agree it would be best to check with your state authorities. https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/511 http://www.superchevy.com/videos/vin...nt/0_jdj79iiy/ |
