Where to mount speakers?
Right. Where to mount speakers. I'm putting a new CD/radio combo in my '53, going to mount under the dash. I don't need subs, etc, just a couple of nice speakers for the radio, etc. Everything has been insulated with Noico. Some suggestions please (or pics). Thanks.

Re: Where to mount speakers?
It isn't hard to mount something decent behind the speaker grill in the dash and then put a speaker box in each back corner.
Several outfits sell kick panel speaker enclosures such as these https://www.classiccarstereos.com/19...80221849455940 With or without speakers Same outfit has this setup or you can borrow the idea and do your own. https://www.classiccarstereos.com/19...html?rrec=true I made two boxes for 6 inch speakers for the kick panels of my 48 and since it doesn't have a gas tank in the cab built a speaker box that goes in the area that the tank would. It sounded pretty good in the 1990's but would be real dated now. Truck still has the am-Fm cassette player in it. + If you scroll down to the behind the seat speaker boxes there are some metal ones that might give you and idea of how to make some out of MFD or other material to fit in the cab corners. https://www.streettrucksmag.com/all-...duct-showcase/ LS fab is making a whole filler panel with speaker holes but that might break a lot of truck building budgets. Pretty but it carries an LS fab price. |
