Rear Axle question

Rear Dana 60 full floating with demountable drums. Per the factory book, torque the bearings to 50-60 ft lbs to seat and back off 1/8 turn. Install spindle lock, bend tab over nut, install locking nut and torque to 175 ft lbs. I get anywhere near this value the inner tab on the spindle lock shears. Gone thru 2 locks now. New torque wrench. Anyone have a solution?

I put my dana 60 hubs w/ demountable drums back together earlier this year. Per my 72 manual, I believe you are using the torque specs for a different axle. The dana 60 is referred to as the "5500 lb" in my manual. Torque specs are listed in the picture. I have mine set under the procedure and specs (65 ft-lbs outer) for the 5500 lb axle and have had no problems. I also put a little bit of wheel bearing grease on the bearings during install.
