78 C10 wheel fitment feedback
Hey Guys...I am looking to go with some old school slotted mags...the US Mags indy...15X9 on the front and 15X10 in the rear....78 C10 2wd Big ten. The 15X9 shows a -12 offset 4.5 backspacing...test fitting one, I find the outer part of the tie rod end at the knuckle just barely touches the inside of the wheel...it is so slight that I would think you could kiss the rod end with a grinder and it would clear.
Anyone have experience using the 15X9 4.50 on the front, 15X10 3.50 on the back? |
Re: 78 C10 wheel fitment feedback
I can't comment on the fronts, since I ended up going to 17" wheels when my 15's rubbed my drop spindles.
The rears might be tight. I am running a 17x9 with 4.5" of backspacing and a 275/60/17 (30" tall) tire - lots of room inside, not much outside without rolling the fender lip. Your wheels - 10" wide with 3.5" of backspacing, would put more wheel outside the hub. I also have a flip kit, so its pretty low in the back and my rear tires are tucked up into the fender by an inch or two. Hopefully someone else can comment on whether they'd fit - I like slot mags on round eye C10's. |
Re: 78 C10 wheel fitment feedback
Id personally run 8's on front and 10's in the rear. If you are dead set on 9's, then just give the tie rod a minor shave and roll it. There still may be binding under pressure lock to lock, and it might rub.
I would double check the backspacing for the 10's, 3.5 seems small and it might push the wheels past the outer fender. If I remember correctly, I had 4.5" BS on the 10's on my C10 |

15x10 on the rear you need a 5" BS to tuck the tires. ;)
