wiring

Im looking into an LS swap for my 98 Tahoe. I got most of it figured out, what mounts to get, A/C brackets for stock compressor, headers, even turbo headers since planning on doing that. But what I can't find is the wiring that I need to KEEP off the vehicles wiring. I understand the engine side, but want everything to work, gauges, heat, A/C, cruise, stuff like that. Searched better part of the day, search results don't seem to bring much info. Not sending it out to get thinned out for a grand either....

Re: wiring

Most of the LS conversion wiring relates to under hood components such as Engine management etc.

Depending on what trans you elect to run, the Trans controller applicable will be needed....

There are several conversion sets for gauges etc
Fuel pump change etc..

AC is achievable with a mix of parts from your current vehicle and some aftermarket or parts yard components.
You may want to keep a standard LS management system at first then advance to more complex as time goes on...

What will be the source of your LS?
You my find it easier and more economical to purchase a complete donor vehicle then sell off the parts to recoup some of your costs...

There are numerous threads live right now in this forum...just check out some to see what issues you may come across....

Re: wiring

I'm trying to buy a complete truck, but you'd think if someone was trying to sell something, they would reply to messages. But I found a motor, wiring and ECM from an 02 truck, 6.0. Gonna go with a 4L80. Local junkyard is swarming with LS engines, so might get one from there, only $200. Trying to figure it out now, so when the time comes I'm not completely clueless....

Have a read of this forum post.....it has more info than most...

Maybe try local crash auctions for a complete vehicle....try and stay under 2007 as the engine management systems are simpler....

And remember,,,have fun ....

Re: wiring

under 2007 for sure. I have a 0411 ECM already, but might use that for my Yukon. ECMs are easy to get. I read that thread, but didn't see anything on wiring, only for older stuff that don't have wiring lol. Local tuner place can do the engine side for $400 I think, gonna go talk to em tomorrow bout vehicle side....

Re: wiring

Does your Tahoe have a 5.7 or a 5 liter gen 1 vortec ?
If so your current pump may handle stock ls motors
99 00 motors some have a different crank output length and iron heads

Look for 01 02 if you want to keep drivebywire

Most o3 up are drive by cable dont forget the peddle

Look up 96 98 truck swaps they will be very similar
Ltiswap has lots of good wiring info

Seen a few videos on YouTube where guys integrate the ls wiring and pcm into there 96 98 c1500
I would think 411 pcm upgrade would have helped switch wires around

Re: wiring

has the 5.7 Vortec now. I didn't get it yet, but told the guy I want it, waiting to hear back. but it's an 02 6.0 with new coils, headers, ECM and wiring for $450. The 98 pump will work, its still cable so not worried bout that. But even a search for any year Vortec to LS swap, seems they don't talk about or show the wiring on the truck side, the side I'm trying to figure out. I have the pinouts for the tahoe, I was gonna do the 0411 swap n then build the current motor or a 406/Ramjet i have.

Re: wiring

Try using these search terms in Google:

OBS gauge wiring LS swap

GMT400 LS conversion

With yours being a Tahoe, there may be some additional wiring, but the info is out there.
