Oil Pressure Switch Problem
 

Hey guys, long time since I posted here, but I have a problem. I can't really find my oil pressure switch, and I think it's why my choke/oil pressure light is on.

It's not at the rear top of the block like a lot of sbc's, but it looks like it is on a port or fitting that is attached to the oil filter fitting. Does that make any sense?

I just had the transmission rebuilt, so that's why it's nice and clean, and that's when the light came on. I'm trying to determine if they pinched, broke, or disconnected a wire or if this is just coincidental, but I can't test it if I can't locate it. Is that thing buried in grease with wires coming out if it, it?

Look at the parting line between the engine and trans and see if there is a wire pinched. Did you get it back from the transmission shop with the light on, and is it on steady? Spray some cleaner on there to get the guck off. It's hard to tell what is under there.

Should be in that clump of oil grease and dirt in your pic. bout 7 oclock down and to the left of the threaded hole I think.

Yes, it makes sense. Many blocks have a second port in that location. Most times it is plugged and forgotten as the normal location on top is used. Spray that lump with some degreaser, wait a bit and spray with hose and I think you will find your oil pressure sender.

Thanks guys, it's been too cold and rainy to work on it, but I think tomorrow is the day. I did take it to a self-serve car wash and cleaned that area off, so it's visible. It's in exactly the same location as that block belonging to The Rocknrod. What the heck block is that?

This seems a fairly simple circuit, but I'll be damned if I can find it on the schematics...

What year truck are you looking for? Your on the 67/72 pages. Your avatar is for a 82? I assume that is what your asking about. The 67/72 all where hard lined.
They are both the same I think.:chevy:

Well, crap. I accidentally posted to the wrong year forum. My truck is actually as pictured, an '82. Thanks for all your replies. I haven't changed the OP Switch yet, but today might be the day. It looks like I have a 3-wire switch, while this schematic says that circuit is for V-6 only. I wish I could figure out how the actual dash light fits into that circuit...lol.
