In cab tank Carpeting
 

Greetings to All!
In the middle of some upgrades that include installing bucket seats from a Tahoe. As such, I was looking at covering the gas tank with some black carpet.
Researching this revealed that the factory installed carpet with screws along to the top of the tank or just below the window. Velcro could be another option.
The question today is, did you buy carpet locally or from a vendor such as LMC?

My friend had a slip cover made for his with padding sewed to the back. For looks, and to keep tank noise down.

I think he used vinyl though.

I plan to use black indoor/outdoor carpet and craft spray mount it to a piece of house paneling or similar (sturdy cardboard would work) leaving enough carpet at the top to roll back and fasten it using the tank bolts and leaving enough carpet at the edges and bottom to tuck in in nicely.

I haven't done this yet, but it looks pretty straight forward and I have some carpet to try it out with. And, I'll be using a stock bench so the cosmetics are not that critical, but I think it will look nice.

I did take my tank out of the cab and got trunk liner from a local upolstrey shop. Its kind of like light weight carpet. Easy to form cut to shape. I just glued it in place. Cheap too. I think I paid about $30.

Well just to show everyone how cheap I can be, I went to O'Riley's long ago and spent $15 or so on roll of carpet and glued it on.

Ain't no foot traffic on it so why not.

I then went to the hardware store and polished up some aluminum strips to kind of break up that wide exposed metal rim above the tank, they even bent nicely around the corners. :)

Somebody did a nice job of paint coverage on this truck.

I screwed a double cup holder to the top of my subwoofer housing but leaned over and snapped the rear one off...trial by error I suppose.
