Re: Anybody seen one
I haven't seen one, I didn't know they existed. It does seem like cool idea though.

Re: Anybody seen one
Those are pretty cool. I can see why you haven't seen any trucks with them. The price is pretty steep. But I really like seeing aftermarket parts still being made for our trucks

Re: Anybody seen one
Well, it's different. I think it would belong on a truck with all the modern gadgets thrown in it too.

Re: Anybody seen one
that is nice! i like it.

Re: Anybody seen one
It actually works, with the 67-68 Grille. :smoke:

Re: Anybody seen one
I like the kit to put the 68 grill in the 71-2

I think the non-hide-away 67/68 style grilles look even better than the hide-away version. Cool idea.

Re: Anybody seen one
Would those make your truck an R/S or an S/S?
|
Re: Anybody seen one
Hide-away stuff was an R/S option on Camaros.
|
Re: Anybody seen one
You know, after I watched the video on how it works, and looks live, I REALLY like that look for a 67-68.
|
Re: Anybody seen one
On that 67/68 style grill insert, would there be any reason you couldn't just cut the center bar out of a 69/70 grill surround and install it on one of those? Or do the 71/72 grill surrounds have mounting tabs in different locations? The $800 price is sort of tolerable, but if you have to add in the cost of a new 71/72 surround it gets pretty pricey for those of us with a 69/70 grill.

Re: Anybody seen one
I was considering the grille with out the hide-a-ways.
I called and asked if the surround came with the grille because I thought the picture might be misleading. It does NOT come with and surround. And yes, th ad is misleading in my opinion. Spendy and then add in the cost of a replacement surround. Pricing is a bit much but they look cool. It is one method to get the classic 67-68 look without changing the hood and fenders. The doors on the hide-away open and close without and class in my opinion. Didn't like that part of it. Rick |
Re: Anybody seen one
Or you could just buy a 67-68 , The last all metal grille truck Chevy made ?
|
Re: Anybody seen one
the hide away honestly looks like a charger grille to me. not sure why but that's what it reminds me of, as for the 67/68 grille in the 71/72 surround, it's nice but I just don't think that grille works without the slant nose of the 67/68.

Re: Anybody seen one
At what point does your vintage truck stop actually being vintage?
