52 no key slot button

Hey Guys,

I'm putting 94 jeep yj door (bear claw style) latches in my 52 5 window and plan to use the original interior door handle to lock/unlock and open the door as original. I plan to make the locks electric. Originally, the only way to lock the doors from the outside was by simply disabling the outside door handle push button with a key. It doesnt actually lock the latch. So I am going to install a modern key lock cylinder in each door and dont want the push button to also have a key slot. So I am looking for a new (no key slot) push button.

The new 52 door handles I've seen either come with the one non key push button or no push buttons at all. So I'm hoping someone will know of a source for just a no key slot push button. Maybe someone bought one of the sets with one non keyed push button and then bought the pair of keyed push buttons and has a non keyed push button left over.

I will illustrate the jeep yj latch installation in my build thread (that's been dormant for 6 years)......

Thank you,
Randy

Re: 52 no key slot button

old trucks and most cars only had the key lock in the passenger door push button
best i can figure is you push the inside handle forward to lock the drivers door
slide over to pass side, get out and lock door from outside

Right. That's why I am looking for a plain (no key)push button. I won't be using the lock in the push button to lock my doors.

Anyone have a new non key push button for sale?

Don't know if this matters or not, but on my '57 I swapped the buttons from side to side and got the keyed one on the driver's side now.

I ordered 2 keyed alike buttons and changed them out, now keyed on both sides.

Second Series.
That's exactly what I was looking for. Just a plain no key slot push button. I googled "52 door handle" several different ways and never came across that catalog.
Thank you very much!

Thanks also for all the replies.

Look for a '51 door handle, I think '52 was the first year of the tumbler in the pushbutton. '51 was the first year with the pushbutton. IIRC

Thank you for all of the replies and ideas.

I searched online for quite a while. I would have thought I would have gotten a hit on Carter but never once did they come up.

Fyi, not only does jim Carter sell the blank (no key hole) buttons individually, they sell pairs of handles that supposedly come with 2 no key buttons! I ordered a set. Fingers crossed.

Thanks again,
Randy
