Canadian 1968 small rear window?

Same story. Guy on a group says he knows GM Canada used left over 67 small window cabs during the 1968 model year. I call B.S. What do yous say?

Also, he said the large rear window cabs mandated for 1968 were used on mid-year 1967 trucks without A10 RPO code on SPID. I call B.S. What do yous say?

Re: Canadian 1968 small rear window?

Seems odd to me that they would use 68 big window cabs mid year 67, but still have left over small window cabs for 68?
Have him show up the proof. I am skeptical.

Firewall is stamped a little different in 67 than 68 cause 68 had the 396 available . I have a big window 67 here so they are not early 68 productions. thats all B.S. and I am yet to see a 68 small window truck that isn't a medium or heavy tru k.

It takes an engineer to sign off on any part that you are substituting on the assembly line. CYA all of the time.

Thanks for the responses. I guess it's documentation or just talk.

I too have a "panoramic" rear window cab from 67 [big glass]. But I have never seen a small back glass later than that unless it was on a "Bob" truck [Medium duty] Jim

I call B.S. on the window change being mandated. I believe it was nothing more than a design change.

This is like the couple of people I've ran into over the years that swear they saw a pink/white 71 Chevy pickup where as that color was only available on the GMC's. Okay I say until I see a Chevy spid with the codes it never happened. I've waiting 6 months for one guy that says he has seen the truck as it still exists and was gonna get me a spid pic. Urban legends for 67-72's..

Sounds like another expert in ignorance to me . As him how could it be that he is the only one who knows this.

It could have been leftover parts. It's been done before.

Some 1941 and 1942 cars that were left over before the war stopped production were taken by the military and titled as 1943, 1944, and 1945 models.

These were either leftover vehicles. Or built with leftover parts.

The car business is just that. A business. If they have leftover cabs they're going to try and get rid of them.

It's possible it's a 68. But it also may be :bs:

Documentation is the key. Is it a 67 that somehow got a 68 title? Or is it rare?

The 67 had a lot of things that were different than a 68.

Regarding the small window cab, no reason to "use up" something that they continued to use in C40-C70's until I think 72.

I'm assuming the "Group" is a Facebook thing. Doesnt make me feel bad about sticking with this board vs running off to Facebook like so many have.

Except the larger series cabs had completely different floors, rockers, and doors to accommodate the fenders. Wayyy different from a 10-30 cab and could not be used on a big series trucks.

I believe his point was that the leftover rear cab panels themselves could have been used in the medium duty cabs, not whole left over 10-30 cabs.

I was going on topic of entire cab, not panels

Re: Canadian 1968 small rear window?

I seriously doubt any cabs assembled weren't set on chassis and trucks built and sold. They don't build vehicles all year long. The new truck design was a hot seller and I'm sure they sold them all. Cabs are too large an assembled unit for storage. There was no plan to stop stamping out small window back panels, either. They had five more model years to use those up on medium and heavies.

After re-reading, my interpretation doesn’t appear to be accurate. My apologies!

No need to apologize, that's what these forums are for, always learning. I never take answers to questions as the end all/be all, no matter who's telling the tale.

It indeed was in a FB group. He resulted in calling me names and insults so he obviously couldn’t carry on an intelligent conversation on-line.

He found the right place to hang out. Some fools would rather bath in ignorance than take a sip of knowledge.
