55-59 fuel gauge with mustang tank
Hey guys I’m building my 56 Chevy truck and I’m using the stock gauge cluster. I’m using a 69 Ford Mustang fuel tank. What do I need to do to make my fuel gauge read correctly? Thank you

Re: 55-59 fuel gauge with mustang tank
The goal as far as I'm concerned is to make sure the gauge reads most accurately at low levels. Thus if possible, fill the tank 1/4 full. 4 gal for a 16 gal tank, 5 gal for a 20 gal tank. Per the following pic, if it reads too high you bend the float arm B upward at the elbow C, which causes arm A to pivot downward. Little tweaks at a time.
Now if you only lived near me, I could tweak your sending unit using the above setup, without putting any gas in the tank. Yes, I use to restore M00stangs. http://cmaynard.com/mustang/sendingunit.JPG |

This is what you need ,this will fix miss matched ohms from sender which is 90 ohms full. Gauge is 30 ohms. full

Re: 55-59 fuel gauge with mustang tank
That unit from Speedway may be a good investment in that the 69 Mustang has a 10 to 78 ohm sending unit according to this 69 Mustang group page. http://1969stang.com/forum/index.php...uge-do-i-need/
I've got a 74 F 150 tank I am thinking about using in my 48 and that unit would really help on it. |
