Question - bottom window rubber seal/wipe

Where does this rubber seal/wipe go?

I got it from LMC. I have the felt side sweeps for the door.
Yes, I made a right out of a left frame. If it was the left I have the same question.

Re: Question - bottom window rubber seal/wipe

You will have to take that frame apart again, That rubber goes on the bottom of the glass ,before it goes into the metal window frame. Also those Philips screws you have holding frame together will not work. They will make it hard to roll window up and down in the felt channels. They do still sell those counter sunk screw and nuts.

Re: Question - bottom window rubber seal/wipe

sack54 -- So is the lip to the outside of the window?

And I believe my glass may be thicker than what came out in 1959. As far as the barrel screws ( forgot correct name)-- I used the same type on the 42 and 46. I will shave them a little with the Millner diamond wheel and see if workable.

Anyone got a pic installed?

thanks.

Sack/Dave, thanks, I will heed your warning on the screws. Those things are pricey with few vendors I could find. I will come up with something. I may not get to use that bottom seal but I have not given up yet.

The flap of seal goes to the outside. Without seal water will just run through your door when raining. Not good I know this first hand,:mm:

Anyone have this seal installed? I’m confused, I bought new complete windows with frame and these were not installed.

check ebay, chevy truck window glass frame cabinet screws. I paid $24 for two SETS, shipped.

heeding their advice is the right thing, LMC changed their supplier for glass felt channels, the new stuff is really sticky/grabby rubber under the felt, those screws would make it a nightmare.

Re: Question - bottom window rubber seal/wipe

My new glass is 2 ply - safety.

Was the original door glass in a 59 single ply? I am not sure if that lip seal can be forced in the frame with 2 ply glass.

Now for order of events putting all glass in door --- this is a question.

????????????

1, Bottom door stop
2. Outside channel
3. Place completed window frame and glass inside door
4. Place completed vent window assembly in
5. Align window in all channels
6. Fasten vent window assembly
7. Place regulator and fasten
8. Inside and outside felts.

I am complete on the left door (all is well) but a monkey might have looked like he knew more about doing it.

You can leave the bottom window stop (the square rubber block) out until the install is good and everything is in place. Check and make sure your inside and out felts go into the holes easy once glass is in ,they are a bear to install. Remember both windows go in at the same time. And if you have new paint ,Tape the top of door where you are putting window . One slip there goes the paint. Other than that your good to go.:metal::ito::gmc2::
Also I have the 2 ply glass, it is the same thickness . A helper makes the job flow smoother for sure

Re: Question - bottom window rubber seal/wipe

I put everything in from the inside of the door minimizing paint damage. I did have to touch up a little at the felt tip.
