6.5 turbo diesel
i am thinking about buying a truck with a 6.5 turbo diesel. I NEED HELP!!! Are these things any good. I have heard different stories. people say some of the gm diesels aren't any good but is this the one?

I haven't been around alot of the 6.5's, but I did like the 6.2, they made pretty good power, a turbo helped some, always cracked heads, but rarely gave problems with water leakage or burnt valves, at least the 3 I had. The only 6.5 I ever had apart was out of a burned up pickup, the heads weighed quite a bit less than the 6.2, and were cracked with only 12,000 miles on the pickup. The rest of the block looked to be pretty much the same as the 6.2.

For the best part, the 6.5 is the same as the 6.2. The 6.5 is externally ballanced, and the 6.2 internally, if I remember correctly.
They are both pretty crappy for diesels...don't last like they should, and don' make the gobs of torque they should either. ------------------ '69 G.M.C. 350/350.
