Made a custom tool for or silverado t case
1 Attachment(s)
My encoder motor whent bad on me at work. I was stuck in 4 low. Home is 50 miles away. So during lunch brake I took the motor off so see what I could do. O'rileys wanted $350 for one. A guy just couldn't swing that right now so I needed a way to shift it manually with out damaging the splines on the t case. So I took the motor apart and got the peace that goes to the t case out. It has a gear on it. The gear broke in half when trying to press it out. Any way now I have a perfect fit for the splines. But no good way to grab it. So I found an old garbage socket from work and welded the socket to the female splins . Not only did it work perfectly I can use it again to aline the new motor when I get. Dont judge my welds I was welding blind.

Ugly is in the eye of the beholder. The welds do the job. It works and you made it. :metal:
I've made some pretty ugly but darn useful tools over the years. I have a narrow drawer in my tool chest full of shop made tools that I won't part with. |
