Where's all the trucks in texas???
So, I've been in corpus Christi tx for 6 weeks and I've not seen 1 classic vehicle since I got here. What's up Texas? In Michigan during non-salt season, you can't help but see classics all over the place. Highways, byways, streets and parking lots are full of them.

Certainly a lot of car shows on TV are in Texas: Fast and Loud, Iron Resurrection, Austin Speed Shop, etc. Maybe guys put their cars away during the big freeze last month.

Corpus is known for year around fishing, sand and salt water. Those are not really good for vehicles.
Head northwest about 4 hours and you will be pleasantly surprised. |

Roads were dry by 11am. "The great Texas ice storm of 2021" would have been a 2 hour delay for school in Michigan |

From having family members down in the Long Beach Wa area where there is 24 miles of beach you can drive on when the tide is out a lot of folks in those drive on the beach areas have their beach beater and don't drive their good car or enthusiast car to the beach. Pretty much the same as rust belt folks "winter car" that sits behind the garage 8 months out of the year.
I lived in Central Texas for the first eight years we were married and 20 degrees F in Waco is more miserable than 0 in Minnesota. The biggest problem with that cold spell in Texas was that while They insulate against summer heat there anywhere below Waco they are pretty lax about insulating against the cold as far as water pipes or gas pipes go. Well houses with no insulation an not even a 100 watt light bulb left on in the well house for a bit of heat. Pipes that aren't burried deep enough or that are exposed above ground and exposed in unheated garages and buildings. The biggest problem was that the natural gas lines from the wells to the generator plans weren't insulated and the gas wouldn't flow. With a lot of events canceled and things shut down a lot of guy may have decided that since they had the time they were going to tear the rig down and do some things that they have been putting off for years. |
