Soffseal 9971
 

I bought Soffseal 9971 door weatherstrip seal for my 1950 doors (on 1953 Chevy truck). There are two pieces in the package, but each piece only goes around about two thirds of the circumference of the door. https://www.summitracing.com/oh/part...ions/year/1950

Summit Racing says this should fit 1950 Chevy truck, but does not look right to me.

I originally bought the Softseal 9971 seals from Softseal, Inc out of Ohio but they were to thick for my doors. Don't remember them being to short. I was thinking I had about a 2" or 3" piece left over. How did you measure them for your doors?

I tried to put them around the entire circumference of the door. If I use one piece on the door it is too short and if I use two pieces it is too long.

I see people recommending Soffseal for the doors. What is the right one to buy in the Soffseal lineup if the 9971 is too thick?

I used this, but it's a lot harder to install than the Soffseal with double sided tape.
I used 3M weatherstrip adhesive to put it on, it wasn't fun but my doors shut nicely.

Thank you. And I can get this one at Rockauto which makes it much cheaper for me to buy and have it shipped to me.

I used modeling clay and placed at various spots around my doors and closed them. Then I checked the thickness of my clay. I then went online and found these. Cheap and work great.

Thanks. I just bought some of that for a car project yesterday (1935 Graham), maybe I will try it on the 53 Chevy truck firtst.
