2000 Tahoe; '99 5.7L?
My SO has a friend with a 2000 Tahoe DOA. They suspect a bad fuel pump and asked if I could replace it. We were visiting the other night and as we were leaving I decided to look underneath the vehicle. The owner claims it has an LS engine. What I saw underneath was not an LS but a standard Gen I SBC steel oil pan on the engine. Was this an early 2000 with a Gen I engine before GM made a run of 2000 Tahoe's with LS engines?

I think they came with both 4.8, 5.3 and 5.7 for that year. At least the specs I looked up on line at Edmonds listed all 3 as possible options.

I believe the 2000 SUV is a T400 chassis with the last generation 5.0 & 5.7L Vortec smallblock engines.
The 2000 2500 & 3500 pickups could be either T400 or T800. GM made both in 1999, 2000, & 2001. |

found this on line

Both models were discontinued after the 2000 model year. The GMC Yukon Denali was redesigned for the 2001 model year, and the Cadillac Escalade was redesigned in 2002 (there was no Escalade for the 2001 model year). |

I used to know somebody that bought a brand new 1999 or 2000 Suburban and I'm pretty sure it was the newer 99-06 body style.

Re: 2000 Tahoe; '99 5.7L?
Quite possibly it was a 1500 series Suburban.
It may only be the 3/4 ton chassis were available as the older T400 just like the pickup trucks. It wouldn't surprise me to find that the 2500 Suburban was available in only T400 or both T400 & T800 chassis. GM did this odd mix of builds with the CK T400 and RV squarebodies from 1988-1991. The SUVs just plain didn't get a facelift til 1993. The dually, 3500, and 2500 pickup was available with either body style through 1991. The MD chassis has seemed to use the older cabs past production of the light duty trucks. 67-72 cabs into the mid 70's and round headlights into the 1980's. My guess would be that commercial users likely don't care about a facelift so there's no push. |

That said, she let me drive it a short distance and it was impressively solid :) |
